The tripod of “Islam, terrorism and African Development” has been chosen as the theme of this conference, first, in view of the engaging need to ventilate ideas and to discuss the challenges posed by terrorism to intra-African and trans-Atlantic fraternities; second to re-position discourses in and about Islam by Muslims and non-Muslim intellectuals and, third, to share experiences of the impacts of terrorism and how the “war” being fought against it has been duplicated in African countries. We are interested in papers which engage in discursive constructions of terrorism and contribute to broader public debates on the phenomenon. Papers are expected from, but not limited to, two categories of scholars: a) scholars of Islam and Muslim societies and (b) scholars of Africa and African development.
Confirmed International keynote speakers:
Prof Sulayman Nyang (Howard University, United States of America)
