We at EF Education have this year begun running study tours in collaboration with The Smithsonian Institution. One such tour is "In the Shadow of Vesuvius", an eleven-day itinerary taking in Naples, Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Sorrento, Amalfi, along with many other sites.
We are seeking 'study leaders' who will be able to provide some set-piece lectures, and add engaging, academic commentary along the way, staying with the group for the duration. They will not be expected to handle tour logistics, nor guide in restricted sites; EF will provide a licensed tour director and local guides for these purposes.
I am currently looking for a suitable study leader for one departure in September (the group arrives on 3rd and departs on 12th) and another in October (arrives 20th; departs 31st). The dates evidently clash with many people’s teaching commitments – so perhaps research students would be more suitable.
At this stage, although notice is relatively short, if you are interested in this opportunity you should send your CV (and photograph if you have one – for the purposes of eventual study leader biography as on the website) to me at the address below.
Until now we have only been recruiting European-based Study Leaders, but do not rule out looking further afield for the right candidate.
I would be happy to discuss the matter further with anyone interested, and would welcome any other suggestions as to anyone else I might approach with regard to this enquiry. The tour fee includes a full day's pay for group's departure day, and for two days before the group arrives to cover final preparations, plus meal allowance and travel expenses; this varies according to experience and relevant qualifications.
Yours faithfully,
