We are seeking a third panelist for the 2006 Southern Historical Association conference, Nov 17-20, in New Orleans. The panel will focus on violence and entertainment, preferably in the New South, but we are open to other time periods.
We have one paper dealing with circuses and crowd violence at the turn of the century, and another on Hollywood lynching films, southern audiences and crowds, and the decline of lynching in the 1930s. A chair/commentator are being solidified.
Please email me ASAP if you are interested or if you have questions.
