The 2nd Biennial Women's and Gender Historians of the Midwest Conference will be held Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference theme is "At the Crossroads of Women's and Gender History and the keynote lecture will be delivered by Elisabeth Perry, the John Francis Bannon, S. J. Chair at St. Louis University. The program committee of WGHOM welcomes proposals from historians, independent and interdisciplinary scholars, and graduate students. Please submit abstracts (300 word maximum) for individual presentations or proposals for panels or workshops. Abstracts and proposals must contain a cover sheet with the name, address, phone numbers, and/or emails of all presenters. Email abstracts can be directed to either Yvonne Johnson at yjohnson@cmsu1.cmsu.edu or Paula Hinton at phinton@tntech.edu. The deadline for proposals is September 15, 2005. All presenters must register for the conference. Suggested topics include but are not limited to the following: oral histories of women; women as literary, visual or performance artists; the portrayal of women in history and literature; gender issues on campuses, gender and film, teaching women's and/or gender history.
