The Portuguese Studies Review invites proposals for scholarly research articles dealing with any aspect of the Portuguese armed forces (army, navy, and air force), including but not limited to history, structural analysis, social analysis (recruitment patterns, demographic profiles, career paths, social functions and political impact), domestic and overseas roles (past, present, and future, including discussions of modalities of Portugal's role within NATO and the EU), strategy, tactics and the evolution of military doctrine (historical and modern), armament and weapons systems (historical and modern), military cartography, military engineering, special forces, and military intelligence. Regimental studies will be considered for publication subject to length criteria and research quality. The topical time-frame is at this point very broad, and the editors will consider papers from all periods, from the Middle Ages to the present, as well as well-founded theoretical discussions oriented towards the future. Submissions may be made in English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish, and the journal will consider articles in all four languages.
