A heightened interest in the role of the senses in society is rapidly supplanting older paradigms and challenging conventional theories of representation, which to date have prioritized the visual over other forms of experience. 'The Senses & Society' is an international, refereed journal that aims to provide a crucial forum for the exploration of the role the senses have played in culture throughout history and up to the present day. Highly interdisciplinary, it welcomes submissions from sensory history, the arts, sociology, anthropology, design, architecture, cultural and media studies. The first volume will publish in March 2006. To submit an article please contact Michael Bull at: senses@sussex.ac.uk
