Join The New Jersey Historical Society, WBGO Radio Jazz 88, and The Newark Museum for a jazz-filled morning!
Begin at The New Jersey Historical Society, where you will enjoy coffee and light refreshments at a "Jazz Breakfast" showcasing the talents of student musicians from Newark Arts High School. A guided tour of the exhibition, Lullaby for Dreamland: The Dreamland Café in Lawnside, follows. The exhibition contains photographs of the musicians and groups who played at this noted jazz club in an African-American town in Camden County, NJ, from the 1930s -1970s. Then, stroll just next door to the studios of WBGO Jazz 88 for a behind-the-scenes tour of this great jazz radio station. Enjoy a brief walking tour of downtown Newark as you are led over to the Newark Museum by Historical Society staff. At the Newark Museum, purchase lunch and enjoy the Jazz in the Garden lunchtime concert featuring current jazz greats.
$15 ticket gains you admission to all events. Newark Museum Members pay $8
