Call for Papers--
History of Human Rights Workshop. The Center for the Study of History and Memory at Indiana University, Bloomington, will host an interdisciplinary workshop on the history of human rights in the twentieth century on March 8-9, 2006. International in scope, workshop participants will address the origins and fate of human rights discourses and organizations around the world in the past century. Some possible research topics to address: what groups and forces shaped the struggle for human rights? How was human rights defined and redefined over the course of the twentieth century? Where did its pursuit succeed, where did it fail, and why? The workshop format will consist of intense discussion of pre-circulated papers organized into thematic sessions over two days. We will cover travel and provide an honorarium for participants.
