Call for Volume Editors
American Social History series
ABC-Clio, a publisher of academic and reference books, is seeking individuals to edit volumes of essays for a series on American Social History. Each volume will contain twelve to fifteen chapters (of c. 5,000 to 10,000 words) as well as an introduction by the volume editor, a chronology, a reference chapter, a series of sidebars (c. 500 to 1,000 words each) relating to the individual chapters, a bibliography and a section of primary source documents. The press is seeking collections of lively, anecdotal essays on specific subjects, not encyclopedias. The volume editor, as well as the contributors, will be compensated for his/her efforts. When complete, the series will cover American history from the colonial era to the 1980s. The general editor for the series is Peter C. Mancall of the University of Southern California.
At the present time, the press is seeking editors for the following volumes:
The Early Republic (c. 1789 to 1830)
Jacksonian America (c. 1830 to 1840)
Slavery (especially 1789 to 1865)
The era of reconstruction and mass migration (c. 1870 to 1920)
Women’s Rights
Jazz Age
Great Depression
Civil Rights Movement
Baby Boom
Cold War
The Vietnam era (c. 1950 to 1975)
