"1915. Innocence slaughtered?" is an international three day conference hosted by the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres (Ieper), Belgium. Focus is on the military developments on the western front in 1915 and more specifically the introduction of the chemical weapon with the first gas attack of 22 April 1915 at Ypres.
Contributions will focus on the importance of the introduction of the chemical weapon from a strategic, economical or ethical point of view, its consequences as well as on the attitudes towards the use of poison gas within the different armies present near Ypres in 1915 (German, British, Canadian, Indian, Belgian, French) or on the homefront. The third day of the conference is dedicated to the threats that the existence of chemical ammunition cast upon today's world.
The contributors come from all over Europe and Canada. The conference language is English.
