The aim of this international conference is to focus on perceptions and attitudes towards sexuality as well as sexual behaviour during war in 20th century Europe.
The conference will analyse the topic of war and sexuality from different angles - with the ambition to combine and confront broad reflections with concrete analyses.
The conference is organised with two major themes:
Development and changes in perceptions of and attitudes towards sexuality during war
Sexual violence and "Horizontal collaboration" during and after conflicts and occupations
and takes place on University of Southern Denmark in Esbjerg, Denmark 28-30 June 2006.
We invite papers that address these and related themes. Anyone interested in participating should submit, in the first instance, an outline (250 words) of the proposed paper by 1 November 2005 to Professor Flemming Just (e-mail address provided below).
If the proposal is accepted, the organizers will request a full paper on 1 May 2006 at the latest.
The most relevant papers will be published in a book.
Keynote speakers will be announced on the web during 2005.
