The African American Popular Culture Area of the Midwest Popular Culture Association/Midwest American Culture Association is seeking panel sessions, papers, and proposals examining historical and/or contemporary aspects of African American popular culture including African American stereotypes, icons, artifacts, rituals, genres, holidays, art forms (music, orature, dance, literature, visual art, television, film, comic art, etc.), festivals, foodways, folklore and folklife, religion, and etc.
Submit one-page descriptions with title and 150-word (or less) abstract (by post, FAX, or e-mail) to the Area Chair, Angela Nelson. If papers and/or proposals are sent as e-mail attachments, then they should be in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat pdf format. All proposals should include contact information as well as DVD player requests (we cannot supply audio equipment, slide projectors, computers, or overhead projectors).
