CRAFT (the Chris Roby Archive of Film Texts) has been established over the last few years at Edge Hill and is a unique resource within the region for film researchers, comprising film documents from the 1930s to 1980s (periodicals, advertising material, books, scrapbooks collected by spectators) collated by Film Societies across the North West. Donated to Edge Hill by Chris Roby in 2002, the archive was formerly known as the Contemporary Film Collection and stored the North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University. At Edge Hill, although the cataloguing of the archive has taken nearly three years, material from its shelves has been used to develop the teaching of undergraduates via primary resources and it is being more fully used in undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
