The Cultural Geography area of the Midwest Popular Culture Association invites papers about River Culture to be presented at this October's meeting at the Westin Hotel in St. Louis.
Presentations may examine any aspect of rivers' influence on human life and the development of culture. Papers on popular culture and the arts are especially welcome (e.g., how do rivers serve as conduits of culture? how do river cities serve as gathering points for cultural exchange?), as are papers that celebrate our meeting in St. Louis by focusing on the Mississippi.
Proposals of around 250 words should be emailed to the following e-mail address before May 30, 2005.
