CALL FOR PAPERS: "Gender and the State Reform in Latin American and the Caribbean."

The peer-reviewed journal Política y Gestión, hosted by the Escuela de Política y Gobierno at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Buenos Aires, Argentina), is organizing a thematic issue on gender and the state reform in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This issue seeks to provide a forum for studies dealing with the relationships between the first and second generation of state reforms and the cultural, economic, and social situation of women. We welcome papers on gender differences in the civil service, cultural stereotypes of bureaucracy, and women as the clients of changing public services and structures. Also, we strongly encourage discussions into new terrains such as the interactions between gender and the privatization of public utilities, as well as women's collective action and their incidence on those public policies geared towards state innovation and change.

Papers can be submitted in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. If accepted, the author will have to provide a Spanish version of the article. The review panel is composed of international scholars from institutions in Latin America, Europe, and the U.S.. The deadline for submission is August 31st, 2005. The expected publication date is March, 2006. All papers should be sent electronically to the following e-mail address.

LLAMADO A ARTICULOS: "Género y reforma del estado en América Latina y el Caribe."

La revista arbitrada Política y Gestión, coordinada por la Escuela de Política y Gobierno de la Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Buenos Aires, Argentina) está organizando un número temático sobre género y reforma del estado en América Latina y el Caribe.

Este número busca crear un foro para los estudios sobre las relaciones entre la primera y segunda generación de reforma del estado y la situación económica, cultural, y social de las mujeres. Se esperan trabajos sobre diferencias de género en el servicio civil, estereotipos culturales de la burocracia, y las mujeres como clientes de las cambiantes estructuras y servicios de las organizaciones públicas. Asimismo, se buscan trabajos que se adentren en terrenos novedosos como las relaciones entre género y la privatización de los servicios públicos y las organizaciones colectivas de mujeres y su incidencia en las políticas públicas sobre reforma del estado.

Los trabajos pueden enviarse en español, ingles o portugués. En caso de aceptación, los autores deberán suministrar una versión en español de su artículo.

El panel de árbitros es internacional, compuesto por investigadores de instituciones de América Latina, Europa y Estados Unidos. La fecha para recibir artículos es agosto de 2005. La fecha esperada de publicación es marzo de 2006. Los artículos deben enviarse por correo electrónico a:
