On March 30th and March 31st, the African American Studies & Research Program at the University of Kentucky is proud to present a two day conference on "Black Women & the Body." Speakers include: Professor Maxine Leeds Craig, author of "Ain’t I a Beauty Queen: Black, Women, Beauty and the Politics of Race"; Professor Gwendolyn Pough, author of "Check It While I Wreck It: Black Womanhood, Hip-Hop Culture, and the Public Sphere"; Professor Nikky Finney, poet and author of "Rice" and "The World is Round"; and Professor Kimberly Wallace-Sanders, editor of "Skin Deep, Spirit Strong: Critical Essays on the Black Female Body in American Culture." All events will be held at the University of Kentucky Student Theater and are free and open to the public.
