The Harriman Institute of Columbia University announces a forthcoming half-day conference / continuing education day, focusing on the history and culture of the Byzantine monastic 'colony' of Mount Athos, on the Halkidiki peninsula.
Keynote speakers are Prof. John McGuckin ( Columbia) with an illustrated guide to Athonite monasteries and artifacts; Revd. George Zugravu,(Columbia) on modes of Byzantine and Athonite chant, and Ed Siecinski (Fordham) on the 14th century Athonite thinker Gregory Palamas.
Event held on Friday March 11th, from 4-7 pm. in the Kellogg Conference Room, 15th floor of the International Affairs Bldg. Columbia University, 420 W. 118th St. New York.
