The idea of this project is to raise awareness for the world we live in. It is surprising how difficult it is to (accurately) represent our planet. Confronted with it on a daily basis, through words and images, we take this earth for granted.

Our world is inevitably becoming a global village, where it is impossible not to know your neighbours. We have to be aware of and deal with issues thousands of kilometres away, as they will affect us. We all know what ignorance leads to.

At the same time this is a research on exactly what people understand under our world and how they see the environment they live in.

The Name

Not only does blue stand for our planet, the blue planet, but also is the colour that symbolizes hope, trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. The sky and the sea are blue, at least most of the time, representing the elements we need the most: air and water.
