We wish to inform you that the Council of the Historical Society of Nigeria at its meeting during the 47th/48th Congress at the Imo State University, Owerri, from 10-13 October 2004, fixed the 3rd Week of October 2005 (i.e. 16-21 October 2005) for the Golden Jubilee Congress of our Society at the University of Ibadan.
The theme for the Golden Jubilee Conference is “HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIA AT 50; REFLECTIONS ON THE DISCIPLINE OF HISTORY” The Sub-themes are as follows:

- New Frontiers in Nigerian History
- Nigerian Historians and Nigerian History
- Re-invigorating the Historical Society of Nigeria
- Re-awakening Historical Awareness and Scholarship in Nigeria

Interested participants at this conference are required to submit abstracts of not more than 200 words on any of the sub-themes. Abstracts/Papers may be submitted by e-mail to either the Chairman or Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee.
