The March 1 deadline is approaching for “Inquisitions and Persecutions in Early Modern Europe and the Americas," the summer institute for college and university teachers held at the University of Maryland, June 13 through July 15, 2005 and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
We are looking forward to a very exciting summer! During the five weeks of the institute, participants will join lead scholars Vincent Carey and Ralph Bauer to embark on a comparative study of representations of inquisitions and persecutions between 1530 and 1700 in Spain, England, and their respective colonies in the Americas and the wider Atlantic world. The interdisciplinary perspectives will, we hope, suggest new directions in early modern studies.
We hope you will add your voice, your research, and your teaching experiences as we embark on this journey of discovery.
