The editors of The Industrial Revolution in America, a nine-volume series to be published by ABC-Clio in 2005-06, are seeking contributors for the volumes devoted to Textiles and Automobiles (each volume focuses on a single industry that played a significant historical role in the expansion of the United States into a major economic power).
Specifically, we are seeking qualified individuals to cover the following areas of the U.S. textile and auto industries during the 19th and early 20th centuries (up to World War II).
For the Textiles volume: Innovation and Inventions Driving the Industry (8,000 words); Environmental Impact of the Industry (8,000 words); Labor Organizations/Reform Movements in the Industry (10,000 words).
For the Automobiles volume: Innovations and Inventions Driving the Industry (8,000 words); Environmental Impact of the Industry (8,000 words); Labor Organizations/Reform Movements in the Industry (10,000 words); Immigration's Impact on the Industry (10,000 words).
All chapters are intended for a general readership. Compensation is $650 (for 8,000-word chapters) and $750 for (10,000-word chapters). In addition, contributors will receive attribution in the volume and a copy of the book upon publication. The deadline for manuscript submission is May 1, 2005.
