The ICCS series was started in 1995 with the goal of fostering discussion on Cognitive Systems, a domain of study that transcends the boundaries of traditional disciplines. Most conferences focus on specific aspects of cognition-computational, biological, social or psychological-and reduce cognition to small analyzable fragments. This analytical approach, though extremely valuable, runs the risk of missing the forest for the trees. ICCS is designed to try and "put the pieces back together."
