The Kennesaw State University Philosophy Student Association invites submissions to the new online journal, OtherWise. OtherWise is edited and produced by students in the Philosophy Student Association at Kennesaw State University. The journal’s name is intended to resonate with those students who often feel “othered” by their academic experience as burgeoning philosophers.
OtherWise seeks papers from both undergraduate and graduate students, with a preference given to undergraduate submissions, who are writing on any philosophical issue, period, or field of inquiry. We accept papers that show insight into philosophical topics, and thus add to ongoing philosophical discussions. Papers should have a clearly defined thesis; in addition, papers that are innovative, imaginative, and demonstrate independent thought are preferred over ones that simply summarize a particular philosopher, reading, or school of thought. In light of the journal’s name, papers on Continental and Comparative and/or non-western philosophy are especially encouraged.
Interested authors should submit their papers electronically as an attachment to the e-mail address provided below by March 15, 2005 in order to be considered for the Spring 2005 Issue. Attachments should be able to be opened in MS Word. Please attach as a .doc, .rtf, or .pdf file.
Papers should be no longer than 5000 words and must include the following information on a cover sheet: Name, University affiliation and status (undergraduate or graduate), paper title, and contact information (email, phone, address). Papers must be received in Chicago Manual of Style (14th edition) with in-text citations and minimal endnotes and must follow these criteria: 12 point font, double-spaced, Times New Roman. Submissions must also include a References section that immediately follows the conclusion.
