The History Graduate Student Association of CSU, Fresno is hosting its 7th annual research symposium. This year our theme is "War: Historical Perspectives" and we are extremely fortunate to have military historian and classicist, Dr. Victor Davis Hanson as our keynote speaker.
Our theme is a broad one and we hope to hear papers of all kinds. Papers are not limited to general military history, nor is history the only field from which we will accept papers. All papers will be considered as long as they are about war. If you are unsure about whether or not your topic is suitable, please feel free to contact us. HGSA is a student-run organization and one of our goals is to give History graduate students at our university and others a friendly, yet challenging environment in which to present their work.
In order to have your paper considered, you only need to send us an abstract of 300 words by February 28th, 2005. The Symposium is on Saturday, April 9th. We will contact you to confirm that we have received your abstract as soon as we get it, and notification of selection will be in early March. Once you have been selected you will need to submit an 8 page paper by March 30th.
The purpose of this symposium is not only to offer students a chance to put their ideas up for critique, but also to delve into a subject that is timely, familiar, elusive and romantic all at once, War. We hope this symposium will be both a valuable and enjoyable event for all who attend.
If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact us.
