X INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF REGIONAL HISTORY
Call for papers
Ciudad Juárez, Chih., Mexico, October 19, 20 and 21, 2005 Since 1989 over two hundred historians and social scientists have come from all over the world to Ciudad Juárez to participate in the International Congress of Regional History, a bi - annual event organized by the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. The organizing committee invites all scholars to participate in the X International Congress of Regional History to be held in the university’s Centro de Convenciones (on the corner of Hermanos Escobar and Plutarco Elías Calles) between 19- 21 of October, 2005 to present the results of their latest research and participate in a broad ranging academic discussion of the major issues facing Regional History and such related fields as Frontier Studies, Regional Studies, Women Studies, Ethnic Studies, Economic Development, Archaeology, Business History, Cultural Studies and Art History.
The International Congress of Regional History has consistently provided an open forum for interdisciplinary discussions that have provided new approaches to the different sub fields of Regional History. As a result, for more than a decade and a half the Congress has become a key reference point for those wishing to study the different aspects of inter – and intra – regional variability.
CALL FOR PAPERS
- The official languages will be English and Spanish.
- Sessions will be divided into thematic symposia and general sessions.
- Proposals for symposia will be accepted until the 4th of June 2005. The proposal should include a title, general abstract (500 words); four key words as well as the name(s), affiliation(s) and address (es) of the organizer(s).
- Individual submissions will be accepted until 20th of June 2005. Individual submissions should also include title and abstract, as well as four key words, name(s) of author(s), affiliation(s) and an address for each author. Abstracts should also be limited to 500 words.
- Texts submitted by email before the 31st of August, 2005 will be published on a CD that will be made available during registration.
REGISTRATION FEES
Registrations received prior to 24th of June 2005: 45 USD or equivalent in Mexican pesos
Registrations received after the 24th of June: 55 USD or equivalent in Mexican pesos
Graduate students with valid ID at the registration desk: 25 USD or equivalent in Mexican pesos
The fee includes an orientation package, lunch during the event, and a CD containing the articles handed in prior to 31st of August, 2005.
