Join a great new initiative! I am writing to announce a new website that is launching: World Manna.org.
Did you know that 840 million people around the world and 35 million people in the United States alone suffer from hunger. Thankfully, a new and exciting initiative called WorldManna.org has been launched that takes a new and innovative approach to solving this problem, partnering with major U.S. food manufacturers and petitioning them to donate 1% of their revenues to support hunger relief agencies around the world.
This new website allows caring academics and those in the humanities and social sciences like you sign a pledge providing information about how much you spend per month at the grocery store. Once WorldManna.org gathers 10,000 signatures, these tangible and compelling revenue figures will be presented to executives at food companies (such as Kraft, Kellogs, Tyson, etc) proving that American consumers are eager to buy grocery store food items from companies that allocate proceeds to feed the hungry.
100% percent of the funds raised from this program will go directly toward the work of existing hunger relief agencies around the world, as well as to support new prevention initiatives. This type of initiative is unprecedented and could save millions of lives!!!
Signing the consumer pledge will not cost you anything. Simply go to www.worldmanna.org and tell us your name, e-mail address and how much you spend on groceries every month. If you feel passionate about the cause, tell as many friends and colleagues as possible!!
