The 54th Annual meeting of the Midwest Conference on Asian Affairs will be held at Michigan State University (East Lansing, Michigan) on September 23 to 25, 2005. Proposals are welcome for panels and individual papers open to any time period, all Asia regions, and disciplines across the spectrum of the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.
The program will feature dozens of panels concerning history, anthropology, politics, literature, gender, international relations, environmental science, and technology. In addition, Consuls General from Japan, China, and India have been invited to offer their views on "Asia in the Midwest, the Midwest in Asia: Retrospect and Prospect," one of the themes of the 54th meeting. The program will also feature an Association for Asian Studies Presidential Address by Beth Berry, special workshops on K-12 outreach, music performances, and other activities.
Proposals are due June 30, 2005. Persons presenting papers must be members of MCAA and should pre-register by August 1, 2005.
