Traveling Exhibit - George Washington Remembers: Reflections on the French and Indian War
March 22 - April 17, 2005
In 1787-1788, before embarking on the chapter of his life as America's first President, George Washington penned his reflections on his youthful adventures on the frontier, where he was a central figure in a war that almost claimed his life. This rare document will be on view along with a special exhibit, which will include Major General Edward Braddock's sword, on loan from Mount Vernon, and John Carlyle's August 15, 1755 letter to his brother describing the use of his home as Braddock's headquarters from March 26 through April 20, 1755. The exhibit is on view during normal museum hours.
