The Taylor Lecture commemorates Dr. Robert M. Taylor, Jr., one of the founders of the Indiana Association of Historians and for many years its secretary. He spent most of his career on the staff of the Indiana Historical Society.
This year’s Taylor Lecturer is Tom Cochrun, a distinguished journalist who has served Indianapolis and central Indiana for nearly forty years. He began as a reporter for WERK radio and later reported on politics, state and local government, and police investigations for WIBC radio. Tom joined the NBC television affiliate WTHR in 1981, serving as investigative reporter and documentary producer, and later as senior news anchor. Among his work was an award-winning documentary on the Ku Klux Klan. Tom also served as chief creative officer, president and CEO of Nineteenth Star, a film company that he founded in 1994. His productions have appeared on The Discovery Channel, Court TV, and many international channels. Tom returned to the daily world of journalism in 2003, becoming the News Director for WISH-TV Channel 8 in Indianapolis, a CBS affiliate.
