Sixth Biennial Symposium on the Historic Development of Metropolitan Washington, D.C.
at the School of Architecture, University of Maryland, College Park
The unique role of the nation's capital in military affairs has influenced the local scene in times of both active combat and uneasy peace. Presentations will analyze examples of war-related construction from periods throughout the history of metropolitan Washington, DC. A roundtable discussion will focus on the impact of current security concerns on the city's historic architecture and infrastructure.
An associated tour of military sites in the region will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2005. The registration deadline is February 18, 2005.
