On 28-29 January 2005 Kennesaw State University is holding a symposium in honor of retiring Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Superintendent John Cissell. Kennesaw State is located on I-75 about 30 miles north of the Atlanta airport. The theme of the symposium is "New Interpretations of the Civil War." The keynote speaker on the evening of the 28th is Dwight Pitcaithley, chief historian of the National Park Service. Speakers on Saturday morning, the 29th, include John Inscoe, Anne Bailey, Keith Bohannon, and David Evans. The lectures are free, but there is a small charge for those attending the meals.
