College faculty of all ranks in history, English, American Studies, African-American Studies, and others with an interest in Faulkner or southern history are invited to apply for a place in the seminar. Participants will come to the University of South Carolina campus, in Columbia, SC, to read and discuss the works of William Faulkner and several historians of the South. The seminar will include guest presentations by leading scholars of Faulkner and southern history and visits to nearby historic sites, including a tour of Charleston. During the last week we will go to Oxford, Mississippi and tour Yoknapatawpha County. Participants will be housed on the historic horseshoe of the USC campus. Ample time will be available to pursue research in university and area libraries, including the famed South Caroliniana Library.
