We invite remote participation from women's or gender historians for a session on "Crossing Geography, Culture, and Time with Technology: Engaging in Women's and Gender History @ the Turn of the 21st Century," a hands-on technology presentation at the 13th Berkshire Conference on the History of Women.
Remote historians will not physically attend the conference; they will join the session live via computer with Macromedia's Breeze conferencing system. The session will take place on Friday June 2, 2005.
Preferences for remote presenters:
- participants who use technology to enhance teaching, learning, and/or research in creative and/or innovative ways that can be demonstrated to the session audience by sharing their computer desktop;
- that global histories and not just US history be addressed through examples or specialist historians involved;
- participants with access to a high-speed Internet connection, and to an inexpensive video camera that can be connected to their computer.
Please see the session website (web address shown below) for an abstract of the videoconferencing portion of this session, a description of Breeze's state-of-the-art video communications software and what is needed for remote participation, an abstract of the full session, information about the session presenters and chair, and how to submit a proposal and contact us.
Deadline for proposals is January 15, 2005.
Note:
* Remote participants will need to register for the Conference.
