On Friday May 13 and Saturday May 14 2005, the Catholic University of Paris (ICP, 21 rue d'Assas, 75006) is holding a conference on the following subject: "The Detective Novel: themes and perspectives". The aim of this interdisciplinary conference is to draw an all-encompassing portrait of the detective novel from a global pont of view, thus allowing for extremely varied and diverse angles of research.
For example, aspects of the following questions could be dealt with within an author or author(s) work(s):
- order and disorder
- detection, induction and deduction
- the detective novel as a mirror of society
- murderers and victims
- text and intertextuality
- the ethnic detective novel
- the historical detective novel
- the detective novel and its adaptation to the cinema
These are simply suggestions and should in no way be considered as exhaustive. Please send your abstract and a succinct CV to Anita Higgie and Delphine Cingal by December 1st 2004.
