The University of Mississippi announces a call for papers for its Conference on the Civil War, to be held 27-29 May 2005.
The conference theme, Remembering America's Civil War, invites the submission of papers dealing with any aspect of the war's commemoration and remembrance, as well as the memory of its participants, and its lasting significance to the nation.
The conference is intended for a broad spectrum of Civil War professionals, students and interested non-specialists, and the successful paper will sustain both scholarly interest and popular appeal.
The conference will also feature a tour highlighting the University's association with the war, as well as a tour of Shiloh National Battlefield Park and the National Park Service's newest Civil War interpretive center in Corinth, Mississippi.
Please indicate in the proposal any audio-visual needs that may be anticipated. All paper proposals received before 15 December 2004 will be considered. Submit all proposals, including a current vita, to:
