Stories and Sources: Understanding History Through Documents

Archives are filled with treasures waiting to be discovered. Once you've discovered them, what do you do with them? How do you make that move from the details to the drama, from the specifics to a larger story? The technique lies in learning to read documents critically and in context. Join historians and archivists as they reflect on how they read and interpret a variety of historical documents. Panel presentations will focus on business and financial records, legal documents, personal papers, maps, land documents, and other records of historical and genealogical interest.
