CALL FOR PAPERS
WAR & SECURITY - 7th Annual Society for Military and Strategic Studies Student Conference
4 & 5 February 2005 Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The University of Calgary’s Society for Military and Strategic Studies (SMSS) is now in its seventh year hosting this internationally recognized student conference. Undergraduate and graduate presenters from around the world have attended this two-day forum.
The annual WAR & SECURITY conference is dedicated to facilitating discussion and debate on timely security and military issues, and bringing to light historical events that have influenced the contemporary international arena. It has given students of this transdisciplinary field a significant intellectual network within the larger university, military and corporate communities with which to link those dedicated to the study of security and defence issues, military history, international relations, international law, strategic studies, and civil-military relations.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to: Empires and occupation, revolution in military affairs (RMA), terrorism and the War on Terror, the United Nations and peacekeeping, intelligence, insurrection and revolution, counterinsurgency. We welcome all presentation proposals. This list is not exhaustive and original ideas are encouraged.
Undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines are welcome. Due to high volume of submissions, proposals longer than 250 words will not be considered. Presentations should conform to a 15-minute format.
