The Latin American and Caribbean Section (LACS) of the Southern Historical Association (SHA) invites proposals for individual papers and complete panels for its annual meeting to be held November 2-5, 2005 in Atlanta Georgia. Papers on any aspect of Latin American or Caribbean History are welcome, and panels devoted to comparative themes in the Americas or the Atlantic World are encouraged. We strongly urge advanced graduate students to consider submitting proposals since they can become eligible for the Ralph Lee Woodward Jr. Prize, an annual award for the best paper presented by a graduate student. While presenters are not permitted to give papers at consecutive meetings, they may serve as chairs or commentators in alternative years. All panelists are required to be members of LACS, and membership information is available at our website. Proposals should include a 250-word abstract of the paper and an abbreviated c.v. for each presenter. These may be sent via e-mail attachment or for a regular mail submission, three hard copies must be included.
