The Culinary Historians of Northern California is a new non-profit educational organization focused on the role of food and drink in human history. The purpose of this group is to encourage informal exchanges and conversations among people living in Northern California who work on and/or like to talk about culinary history. The first meeting of this group will be an opportunity to work out the details of where and when to meet, to suggest topics for discussion, and to shape the structure of the group. This organizational meeting will be held on Friday, October 22nd, at 11 am, on the campus of San Francisco State University. We will meet in the History Seminar Room, also known as Science 268. The building is very near 19th Avenue, just after Holloway, if coming from the south on 280, and before Holloway, if coming from the north on 19th. All those who are interested in the group, please let us know, regardless of whether you can make the initial meeting.
