This conference will focus on the impact of regional integration on the prospects of conflict settlement. A comparison will be made between the European and Asian experiences in regional integration, state building and conflict settlement and resolution. In Europe, the analysis will focus on the relevance of the process of Europeanization for the settlement of four secessionist conflicts at the European periphery: the conflicts on Cyprus, Serbia and Montenegro, Georgia-Abkhazia and Moldova-Transdnistria. In Asia, the analysis will focus on the process of regional integration and its relevance for the cross-strait relations. The whole conference is scheduled to be a two-day-long event.
