In the colonial era, the western Massachusetts Bay Colony was home to native Americans and English settlers. Throughout the 17th century, Native and European nations alike crafted political, military, and trade alliances to advance their own interests. Kevin Sweeney, Amherst College, will examine how these alliances guided and defined relationships among these powers.
