Unfortunately, the non-profit JOURNAL of the WEST can no longer be published in Manhattan as Sunflower University Press is being forced to close after almost 28 years. Therefore, we are seeking a new home for the JOURNAL.
JOW was founded in 1962 by Lorrin L. Morrison and Carroll Spear Morrison, Editors and Publishers, of Los Angeles, California. In 1976, we brought the JOURNAL of the WEST to Manhattan, to be published by the Journal of the West, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Over the years, the Journal of the West has grown into an internationally recognized and respected publication.
We have issues contracted for and organized through the end of 2005, and a few more themes are also currently being completed by guest editors for future publication. Details of the transfer will have to be negotiated.
Time is short, as we need to decide whether or not to send the Winter 2005 issue to the printer. This means we need a positive decision or expression of interest by 1 October 2004.
