Annual New Sweden History Conference, Wilmington, Delaware

The theme of the 2004 New Sweden History Conference, jointly sponsored by the Swedish Colonial Society, the American Swedish Historical Museum, and the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, is New Sweden and Native America. Proposals are invited for papers on any aspect of Native American experiences in the seventeenth-century Delaware Valley region or relations between New Sweden and indigenous people. Oral presentations will be approximately twenty minutes in length and, while meeting the highest scholarly standards, should be prepared with a mixed audience of professional and avocational historians in mind.

One-page abstracts of proposed papers, along with brief CV's, may be sent to mceas@ccat.sas.upenn.edu or to the address below.

Proposals from graduate students as well as more senior scholars are welcome. The postmark deadline is 7 September 2004.
