New update of the ArcheoBiblioBase, including the 2004 summer opening hours schedule: link correction
The ArcheoBiblioBase website (http://www.iisg.nl/~abb/index.html) is a brief extract from the ArcheoBiblioBase directory and bibliographic information system for archival repositories in the Russian Federation, maintained in Moscow under the direction of Patricia Kennedy Grimsted in collaboration with the Federal Archival Agency of Russia (Rosarkhiv--before March 2004, Federal Archival Service of Russia). The present information should help alert researchers to the wealth of holdings and research opportunities in repositories in Moscow and St. Petersburg and throughout the Russian Federation.
The data presented here have been last updated in April 2004 to the extent of information available to the compilers, and hence update coverage in the English edition of Archives of Russia. The hours of operation for federal and municipal archives in Moscow and St. Petersburg have been updated to include the 2004 summer schedule. (Summer closings tend to change from year to year.) Especially in case where problems are indicated, researchers from abroad should verify the data by telephone or fax in advance of planned arrival in Moscow.
Further expansion of this coverage is planned to include other archives and libraries, more extensive summaries of history and holdings, and other data from ArcheoBiblioBase, as soon as funding and staff permit. The data is maintained in connection withthe comprehensive Russian website 'Arkhivy Rossii,' under the direction of Rosarkhiv: http://www.rusarchives.ru.
