The West Tennessee Historical Society Papers is accepting manuscripts for potential publication in the 2004 and 2005 editions. This refereed journal annually chronicles the history of West Tennessee and surrounding areas. The 2004 volume will be a special edition dealing with the Civil War era in the West Tennessee region and will include articles related to social, political, and military aspects of the conflict. The 2005 volume is open to all topics and time periods.
The West Tennessee Historical Society’s Executive Committee bestows the Marshall Wingfield Award upon the best article appearing in the Papers, an honor that also carries a monetary prize. Previous Wingfield Award winners include Larry Daniel, Fred A. Bailey, Lonnie Maness, and Harvey Hudspeth.
This is the final call for papers for inclusion in the 2004 volume. Interested authors should submit their manuscripts no later than August 1, 2004.
This is the initial call for the 2005 Papers. The deadline for 2005 submissions is March 15, 2005.
Manuscripts should conform to the current Chicago Manual of Style, with citations following the “Documentation One” section of that guide.
Authors may submit their manuscripts via email by sending them to the editor, Derek Frisby, at dfrisby@mtsu.edu [Word or WordPerfect files only please] or by sending one hard copy and one electronic file copy [3.5 floppy or CDROM] to the enclosed address.
