The aim of this interdisciplinary conference is to examine the ways in which overlapping and multi-faceted identities characterise or construct regions, communities, groups and individuals.
Identities underpin economic, social, cultural and political events/trends and also colour our understandings of them. What aspects of our identities do we share, or not, with others and what has been the impact of this on the lives of individuals and societies? Papers might therefore be micro-studies or consider broad issues such as gender, racial or class identities in current or past societies.
