The Atlantic Council of the U.S. will send a delegation of current undergraduate and graduate students to the Portuguese Atlantic Youth Summit (PAYS), 24 July to 31 August in Lisbon, Portugal. The Council will employ a highly competitive process to select a limited number of participants to attend.
Sponsored by the Portuguese Atlantic Treaty Association, students will focus on the topic "“The Mediterranean Basin: between peace and terror” and meet with top Portuguese and NATO officials and academics. Discussions include NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue, the Greater Middle East Initiative, and the European Union’s outreach to its southern and eastern neighbours.
Students must submit a resume, a copy of their unofficial transcripts, one letter of recommendation, and a letter of intent (outlining special qualifications and interest in PAYS).
Cost: $100, plus travel and personal expenses
Deadline: All materials must be received by 5:00pm EST June 10, 2004.
