The Summer University in Kaliningrad 04 is organized by the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder) in cooperation with the Kaliningrad State University, the Eastern European Institute, Free University Berlin and the Instituts d'Etudes Politiques de Paris.

In this summer program, the main focus -- besides the language course -- is the recent history of the Kaliningrad Region after 1944. Another topic will be Kaliningrad as a region of cooperation between Russia and the European Union.

Language courses
Daily language courses for four levels will take place 10.00 - 11.20 and 11.40 - 13.00. Twice a week individual consultations are offered with the teachers, staff of the Department of the Russian language as a foreign.

Program
After the daily language course, there will be organized lectures about the main topics and visits to institutions in Kaliningrad. Meetings with known personalities and a study trip to Klaipeda, Lithuania will show the students different aspects of the Kaliningrad issue.

Expenses
The language course (25h/week) and the accommodation in dormitory cost 300 Euro. The travel expenses amount approx. 150 Euro.

Prerequisite for participation in the Summer University Kaliningrad 04 is basic knowledge of Russian language.
