First Call for papers (NOTE: abstracts due 21 May 2004: go to our website and follow the menu to either "news" or "conferences" sub-menus).
On behalf of APSA and the local organising committee, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend APSA's 6th conference, to be held in Seoul, South Korea, between the 17th and 19th of September, 2004.
This year's conference is being jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Sociological Association (APSA) and the Korean Sociological Association (KSA). The conference theme is Asia Pacific Societies in Globalisation and Localisation. As we see it, Asia Pacific Society is quickly moving from the periphery to a place at the center of the world, given the emergence of the twin historical processes: globalisation and localisation.
We want to bring together scholars who will engage in and share their experiences in constructing sociologically-attuned links between and amongst Asia Pacific Societies and a world undergoing change in the face of globalisation and localisation. To this end we have constructed an exciting programme, involving a mixture of participatory and contributory components. The program is designed to maximise the way in which all attendees can be involved in the Conference. It is no doubt that the conference will provide a very good opportunity for participants to share experiences and interests.
We look forward to seeing you in Seoul
