The AFRICAN AMERICAN POPULAR CULTURE Area is seeking panel sessions, papers, and proposals examining historical and/or contemporary aspects of African American popular culture including African American stereotypes, icons, artifacts, rituals, genres, holidays, art forms (music, orature, dance, literature, visual art, television, film, comic art, etc.), festivals, foodways, folklore and folklife, religion, and etc.
Submit one-page descriptions with title and 150-word (or less) abstract (by post, FAX, or e-mail) to the Area Chair, Angela Nelson. Please include your (a) Name, (b) Complete mailing address, (c) College/school/professional affiliation, (d) Telephone number, (e) E-mail address (preferred), (f) FAX number, and (g) Audio-visual equipment requests: VCR and/or Slide Projector ONLY. If papers and/or proposals are sent as e-mail attachments, then they should be in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat pdf format.
